We held our annual Embley Wellbeing Week from Monday 9 to Friday 13 February. The week featured a range of experiences, workshops, talks and activities focused on the NHS’s five steps to mental wellbeing.
Highlights of Wellbeing Week at Embley Prep School included:
-
Sound bath sessions - Year 3 to 6 discovered the relaxing and restorative power of sound with co-founder of the Calm Collective, Kate Delves (Reiki Master and a certified sound healing practitioner).
-
Environment conservation at Lepe Beach - Year 5 embraced the chance to help protect our local environment with a litter picking trip to Lepe Beach. They learnt more about the importance of caring for our planet and the impact litter can have on wildlife while enjoying the beautiful coastal views.
-
Mindfulness Art & DT workshops – Years 3 and 4 explored how colours link to mood in a thoughtful artwork shop. They explored which colour represented each emotion to them and created visual art pieces to reflect how they felt throughout the week. Year 5 and 6 took part in a DT workshop where they learned different sewing techniques and created their own avocado plush.
-
Hygge Day - Pupils wore comfy clothes and embraced the Danish concept of creating a cozy, warm, and peaceful atmosphere to promote wellbeing.
-
Storytime with Mrs Gibb - Nursery to Year 2 were treated to a special story time with Head of Prep, Mrs Gibb. They took part in mindful stretching before settling down to enjoy one of Paddington's adventures.
